We can work with trainees planning to earn their degrees or apply for licensure in the State of Hawaii. Our trainees in clinical supervision benefit from their work with licensed mental health professionals in many ways. They include discussing and overseeing cases, developing treatment strategies, and assessing progress and challenges. Clinical supervision also provides the optimal environment to hone diagnostic skills and learn how to establish the professional boundaries essential to therapists.
Everyone studying to become a mental health counselor learns the fundamental scientific principles of therapy in school. But developing the ability to work with clients and conduct therapy sessions is entirely different; working in a busy clinic like ours provides opportunities not available in a classroom setting.
Our supervision program provides vital opportunities to learn by doing in developing therapeutic skills. It also puts trainees into situations where they’ll experience what it’s like to deal with the real-life dilemmas mental professionals face routinely – all under the supervision of licensed therapists.

Our counselors and therapists have a wide range of interests and see patients of all ages and from many walks of life. Because our practice areas are varied and working therapists of many backgrounds are on site, we provide an excellent environment for learning.

We’re one of Honolulu’s more diverse psychotherapy practices and give trainees and interns a broader range of opportunities as a result. Our counselors also take a keen interest in the learning process and enthusiastically serve as advisors and mentors. It’s a level of mentoring not available everywhere, and training at a more extensive practice exposes future practitioners to more. Nearly always, trainees will gravitate toward therapists working in the treatment areas where they have the most interest.
